Sue Williams attended Cooper Union and received her BFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Her solo exhibitions include Gallery Side 2, Tokyo, Japan; the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, Florida; Secession, Vienna, Austria; 303 Gallery, New York; and Regen Projects in Los Angeles. Williams was included in the 1993, 1995, and 1997 Whitney Biennials. She has participated in group exhibitions at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France; the Palais de Beaux-Art de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Victoria Miro Gallery, London; among others. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1993, and from 1997 to 1999 she was professor of painting at the Adademy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria. She is represented by 303 Gallery in New York.
